Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Sankri

As the sun rises, our adventure begins, weaving through the picturesque landscapes of the Yamuna and Tons valleys towards our base camp in Sankri. Whether you’re travelling with the Aim of Adventure or charting your path, the journey promises to be as exhilarating as the destination.
Leaving behind the urban sprawl, our path winds its way to the renowned hill station of Mussoorie, offering glimpses of its storied history and breathtaking vistas. Along the route, the sacred temple of Lakhamandal whispers tales of ancient intrigue from the pages of the Mahabharata, adding a touch of mystique to our travels.
As we travel through Damta, Purola, Mori, and Netwar, the landscape transforms before our eyes. Deep gorges give way to lush pine forests, while the melodious melody of the Yamuna River accompanies our journey, guiding us towards our destination.
Crossing into the realm of the Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary, we are greeted by the majestic peaks of the Himalayas, standing sentinel over the untamed wilderness. The sanctuary teems with exotic flora and fauna, offering a glimpse into the pristine beauty of the natural world.

Day 2: Sankri to Taluka by road, then Trek from Taluka to Pauni Garaat
Step into the breathtaking landscapes from Sankri to Pauni Garaat, where every moment is a new adventure waiting to unfold. Our journey begins with a delightful breakfast, setting the stage for an unforgettable day ahead. With excitement buzzing, we hop into our reliable SUV, ready to tackle the scenic 12-kilometre drive through the verdant forests of Deodar and Bamboo.
As we hit the road, nature’s wonders surround us – the gentle murmur of streams cascading down hillsides, and the vibrant hues of rare Himalayan birds like the majestic Himalayan Raven and the striking Red-Billed Blue Magpie. Each twist and turn of the road reveals a new spectacle, capturing the hearts of nature enthusiasts and thrill-seekers alike.
After an invigorating hour of driving, we arrive at the charming village of Taluka, nestled peacefully along the banks of the Supin River. Here, we pause to take in the serene beauty, of its quaint concrete houses and welcoming government guest houses. Energized and eager to explore, we set off on our 9-kilometer trek towards Pauni Garaat, our destination for the day.
Our trek begins on a rugged stony path, winding through lush landscapes adorned with the fragrant embrace of cedar trees. Along the way, we may encounter a stream to cross or a challenging patch of terrain – but each obstacle adds to the thrill of the adventure.
As we venture deeper into the wilderness, the trail unfolds like a storybook, revealing hidden treasures at every turn. We walk alongside the Supin River, its crystalline waters dancing over rocks, a constant reminder of nature’s beauty. Sheltered by walnut, pine, and cedar trees, we find solace, serenaded by the soothing symphony of the forest.
Along the way, we immerse ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of village life, exchanging smiles and greetings with locals going about their daily routines. The landscape transforms before our eyes – from the terraced fields of Datmer to the quaint wooden shops of Gangad, each moment a testament to the splendour of the Himalayas.
As the sun begins to set, we finally reach our secluded campsite at Pauni Garaat, a tranquil retreat amidst the wilderness. Here, surrounded by towering trees and the gentle murmur of the river, we settle in for the night, warmed by a hearty dinner and the promise of more adventures on the horizon.
Day 3: Pauni Garaat to Kalkattiyadhaar
On this invigorating Day 3 itinerary, conquer the scenic trail from Pauni Garaat to Kalkattiyadhar, a breathtaking meadow nestled amidst the Himalayas.
Begin your day with a rejuvenating yoga session, preparing your body for the trek ahead. Fuel up with a delicious breakfast and set off on the 8 km trail, immersing yourself in the verdant embrace of towering coniferous forests.
As you emerge from the woods, arrive at the charming village of Seema, perched on the banks of the sparkling Supin River. Cross the iconic Seema Bridge, a suspension bridge offering a photographer’s paradise with its panoramic views of the majestic snow-clad mountains. Gear up for a challenging yet rewarding ascent after crossing the bridge, leading you towards Osla village.
Witness the vibrant fields of Amaranth swaying in the breeze, their contrasting hues adding a touch of magic to the scenery. As you progress, be mesmerized by the grand reveal of the majestic Banderpoonch and Swargarohini peaks. The trail winds further, adorned with colourful wildflowers like fleece and sunflowers. Day 4: Kalkattiyadhaar to Har Ki Dun and back to Kalkattiyadhaar
Gear up for an early start and a challenging but rewarding 14 km trek to the summit of Har Ki Dun. As dawn breaks, embark on your journey at 6 am, traversing a winter wonderland adorned with pristine snow. Depending on the snow conditions, your guide might equip you with microspikes and gaiters for better traction.
The trail from your campsite winds above the confluence of the Supin and Ruinsara rivers, offering breathtaking panoramas of snow-clad peaks – the Ruinsara valley (including Mt. Black Peak) is majestic against the backdrop of the Har Ki Dun valley below. The ascent is a mix of moderate inclines and steeper sections.
Prepare for a demanding stretch with a 45-degree incline. Though not inherently steep, knee-deep snow can make it a test of your endurance. Persevere, and you’ll be rewarded with the final leg – a climb alongside the river through dense forests, culminating in a clearing that cradles some of the region’s most prominent peaks: the Har Ki Dun Summit.
From the summit, witness the spellbinding beauty of the valley below Swargarohini-1 Peak, along with snow-capped Hata Peak and Black Peak. Take your time to explore the valley – expansive meadows bursting with alpine flowers, glacier moraines, whispering coniferous forests, and swift streams, all set against the backdrop of the mighty Himalayas.

Day 5: Kalkattiyadhaar to Pauni Garaat
On Day 5, wake up to a magical sunrise at Kalkattiyadhar campsite. Descend along the familiar trail, enjoying the final Himalayan vistas and stopping to explore the charming village of Osla. Here, discover the Someshwar Temple and its intricate carvings. Spend your final night in Pauni Garaat, reflecting on your unforgettable adventure.
Awaken to a mesmerizing sunrise at the Kalkattiyadhar campsite on Day 5. Witness the golden light bathe the majestic peaks in its warmth, and breathe in the crisp mountain air. Remember, these mornings can be quite chilly, especially in December when temperatures dip below zero. Bundle up to fully appreciate this unforgettable moment.
Today’s journey offers a welcome respite, allowing you to reflect on the incredible experiences of the past few days. After a hearty breakfast, embark on your descent along the familiar trail. You’ll retrace your steps through the picturesque village of Osla, offering another chance to say goodbye to the peaceful villagers and exchange smiles as you bid farewell to the breathtaking landscapes.
The downward trek unfolds at a relaxed pace, allowing you to fully savour the final glimpses of the Himalayas. Descend gradually along the mostly downhill trail, taking in the ever-changing scenery as you make your way back to Pauni Garaat.
Since today’s trek is less demanding, you have the delightful opportunity to delve into the heart of Osla village. Nestled along a mountain slope, this quaint village boasts traditional wooden houses with distinctive slanted roofs. Immerse yourself in the local culture as you discover the enchanting Someshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. Admire the intricate carvings that adorn its walls, testaments to the artistic heritage of the region. If time permits, strike up a conversation with the friendly locals, who are always delighted to welcome trekkers and share stories about their way of life.
After exploring Osla, follow the descending trail back to Pauni Garaat. Here, you’ll spend your final night nestled amidst the tranquillity of the mountains. Day 6: Trek from Pauni Garaat to Taluka, then Taluka to Sankri by road
Fuel up for a scenic descent back to Sankri with a delicious breakfast at your campsite. Enjoy reminiscing about your adventure as you retrace the path through the lush forests of Chir Pine, ferns, and vibrant flowering trees. Keep an eye out for the “bichu ghas” plant – a gentle touch can cause a temporary stinging sensation, but don’t worry, it’s not poisonous and even enjoyed by locals as a vegetable!
Since today’s trek is mostly downhill, take care of your knees by using trekking poles and taking smaller steps. After a couple of hours, you’ll find yourself alongside the refreshing Supin River. The final stretch to Taluka is a well-maintained cemented trail.
A vehicle awaits at the end to transport you back to Sankri. As you arrive, just in time for a hot cup of tea, take a moment to relax and reminisce about the incredible memories you’ve created during your Himalayan adventure. Day 7: Sankri to Dehradun
After breakfast, savour the mesmerizing landscapes around you one last time. Take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve experienced in the Himalayas. From the challenging climbs to the breathtaking vistas, these memories will forever be a part of you. It’s then time to pack up your belongings and check out of your campsite.
Enjoy the scenic return drive to Dehradun (7-8 pm) and connect with your onward journey. Though the trek has ended, the Himalayas leave a lasting impression.
Note: To be on the safer side though, arrange your return journey expecting to be at the Dehradun Bus Stand at around 9 PM. This could help account for any delays we may run into along the way.

To reach the Sankri base camp you have three options bus, train, and air. Now we will explain details about every mood of travel.
If you choose air travel you will choose the Jolly Grant Airport which is nearest to the Dehradun which is approx 25km away from the city. You can easily find daily flights to the Dehradun from Delhi airport. It would be best if you reached Dehradun in one day advance.
If you choose the train for travel from Delhi to Dehradun. There are two trains, it is an overnight journey. The two trains are mentioned below:
Nandadevi Express – Train no: 12205 (Departure 11:50 pm. Arrival – 5:40 am)
Dehradun Express – Train no: 12687 (Departure – 9:10 pm. Arrival – 5:00 am)
If you choose the bus for travel from Delhi to Dehradun. There are multiple government and private buses available for travel during the day and night.
Pickup Point Will be near Dehradun Railway Station and pickup time will be 6.30 AM.
Note: We will share the exact pick-up location on the WhatsApp group. Apart from that our transport manager will be also present at the pickup point to assist you.
