Best Time to Visit Tunganth Chopta
The best time to travel to Chopta is from April to November. April to June is undoubtedly the peak time for this trek because in summer, the weather is beautiful, and as well as you will not face any weather difficulties. If we talk about September to October this time the weather is pleasant and it’s not too hot, but monsoon will become an issue, trek will become a little difficult in this weather, but if you like rain, then you will like to trek in this weather.
December to March is very pleasant weather for you if you are a snowfall lover. This trek will become more beautiful in the winter seasons. The only drawback of this snowfall season is sometimes you need to wait for 2-3 hours because of the heavy snowfall.
How to get to Chopta, the base camp of the Tugnath journey
As you know, the Chopta village is a bit in the outer area, but this village is very popular, and you can easily reach out to it as well. You can use the following mode of communication:
By using a train ๐: The nearest railway station from Chopta village is Haridwar and Yog Nagri Rishikesh railway station. After reaching the railway station, you have to travel approximately 215 km, and it’s up to you to have multiple options, like a private taxi, bus, or rented car.
By airโ๏ธ: Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport, situated nearest to the village of Chopta. From this airport, you have to travel at least 225 km, and you have a variety of options to choose from, such as a bus, a private cab, or a rental vehicle.
By using a bus ๐: Many private and government buses are available from Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Haridwar. At your convenience, you can choose any one of them to reach the Ukhimath location. After that, shared and private taxis are available to reach your destination location, Chopta Village.
The itinerary for Tungnath Trek
1st Day: Haridwar to Chopta village | 240 km long drive | Altitude: 7874 ft
- First of all, pick up from the Haridwar at 8:00 AM.
- Then long drive to Chopta from Rishikesh via Devprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag.
- The arrival at Chopta and accommodation will be in a Deluxe Camp or hotel.
- Dinner and rest
- After that briefing session with the “Aim of Adventure” tour leader.
2nd Day: Trek to Tungnath | Distance: 5 km | Altitude: 7874 feet to 13123 feet
- After breakfast, trek to Tungnath Temple.
- The trek is easy, and it generally takes around 3-4 hours to reach the temple.
- Chandrashila Summit. Packed lunch at the summit.
- Reached back to Chopta by evening. Enjoy the beautiful sunset from Chopta.
- Overnight stay in the camps or hotels according to the pack chosen by you.
3rd Day: Drive to Sari village and trek to Deoriyatal, go back to Sari village and drive to Haridwar.
- Leave early in the morning from Chopta and then drive to Sari village.
- Small hike for 2 hours towards Deoriyatal.
- Reach Sari village by lunchtime.
- After that, drive back to Haridwar.
- Expected time of arrival to Haridwar: 11:00 PM
